Superb pair of Meiji period Japanese bronze cranes, beautifully cast and decorated, circa 1900.

Category:

A fine pair of Japanese bronze cranes from the Meiji period, dating to around 1900. Each crane is brown patinated and stands on a naturalistic base, with its feet trapping a snake beneath. The bodies and wings are decorated with recurring patterns, and the wings are detachable.

These high-quality bronzes are exceptionally well modelled and cast, reflecting the artistry of the period. Ideal as a decorative statement piece for a mantel, sideboard, or display cabinet.
